Difficulty Legendary LitRPG Book 1 (Audible Audio Edition) Gregg Horlock Guy Williams Books

It is cheap but too short without an actual story and quite dumb MC (not reading anything about a game that you wanted to play your entire life and everyone plays it, really?! How unrealisticly stupid can you be?). Entire book feels like an intro to the real book. Can't say it is that bad though.

Difficulty Legendary LitRPG Book 1 (Audible Audio Edition) Gregg Horlock Guy Williams Books Reviews

I'm sorry to say that I was not at all into the main character. I thought the real-life background was decent but once the MC entered the virtual reality world, it seemed like his brains stayed offline. The in-game character acted like a hamster running on his hamster wheel. The plot was dull, boring, and unimaginative. I will not be reading the next book. Sorry.
First off I should give a positive This is a pretty good story and so far the MC is likable enough but now for the bad part this book it's pretty much a normal length book split in half, really I am being generous with that at best it's a quarter of a normal length story. As long as the author keeps this under $1 I will read the next one but anything more than that and trust me don't spend the money it's a 2 and a half hour read at most.
The main character is not intelligent or anything really. To sum it up, he is dumb and entertaining. Maybe it gets better but the book pretty much grantees no one will bother with a sequel. It's not the story of someone overcoming adversity, just losing at everything. The one thing that makes that kind of story entertaining is comedy, but their is none.
I paid a buck to read an equivalent of someone's incomplete rough draft of a first act of a story. You might as well copy and pasted a protagonist that is a bumbling litrpg trope. When the dystopian world around the game has a better premise then the majority of this.... novella, you have problems. I need to stop writing because it is starting to infuriate me that I spent more time reviewing this then actually reading it.
The book is well written with a very good strong character. Before getting into the pod the character is determined. Upon entering the MMOPG, our character 2nd chance seems dim. Gregg shows how the character with new friends how he turns what he thinks is a weakness into a growing strength. As our hero comes along he learns that action do have consequences and learns from them. I loved reading the book and how our hero is going to have to solve a problem or two if he wants to make level 6.

Gregg keep me locked into the story and has left me look for the next book. It is steady paced and can be finished in 2 hours. The book does keep you locked in and rooting for our hero, 5 stars
This was a complete disappointment. The author's writing is quite good and the flow/dialogue is fine. But the book was so short it was ridiculous and the main character was a joke. Not only were his decisions inconsistent with his upbringing, I honestly hated him because he was such a painful noob to read about. I was really excited about this book and it started off so well, I've rarely had such a turn around in a book like that.
I really did enjoy this book. It is short, and I am hopeful that follow up works will be longer, it is still pretty well written and enjoyable. There are no glaring typos or mangled sentences or odd language choices that we seem to get with most of the books in LitRPG. There is one huge plot hole that another reviewer points out, the main character has no idea about what is going on in this game that can take the place of his future job (somehow) and that his brother allegedly plays even though no one has heard from him in years. Apparently people enjoy watching the players of this game but this is news to our would be hero, he has no clue about anything, despite being observant enough to see a technician in the game labs an illegal drug user based on the outline of something in the guys pocket... Truly missed an opportunity here. The other big mistake I noticed is when our main character tries to leave the starting area he gets held up by other players to pay the 'toll', which is fine, but these guys are listed as being members of the 'good guy' guild. doesn't quite mesh with the other descriptions of the guild.

That said, I will still buy the next book, even with a flawed premise I enjoyed the world building that went into it.
It is cheap but too short without an actual story and quite dumb MC (not reading anything about a game that you wanted to play your entire life and everyone plays it, really?! How unrealisticly stupid can you be?). Entire book feels like an intro to the real book. Can't say it is that bad though.
